Practical questions
Missing old STI records: prepare a care handover
Moving between healthcare services without old STI reports can leave important questions unanswered. Prepare what you know, clearly mark what you do not know and ask the previous service for verified records. Do not turn a remembered panel name or medicine colour into a definite diagnosis, dose or clearance result.
General information for adults. Not a substitute for medical assessment.

Make a short known-and-unknown timeline
List approximate consultation dates, specimen sites, symptoms, known positive or negative results and whether you completed prescribed care. Label uncertain dates and names as uncertain. Include allergies, current medicines, pregnancy and ongoing symptoms because these can affect immediate decisions. A statement such as blood tests were normal does not identify the infections tested, the method or whether a later exposure was covered; tell the new clinician exactly how much you remember.

Request useful records through verified channels
Ask the previous provider how to obtain complete laboratory reports, treatment summaries and any documented follow-up recommendation. Confirm the identity checks and secure transfer method rather than sending documents through an unfamiliar account. If you have only partial records, bring them without altering them and explain what is missing. A screenshot may omit the collection date or specimen site, so request the original report where possible instead of treating a cropped image as a full history.

Let the new team decide what cannot wait
A clinician may need to assess symptoms or arrange selected tests before every old document arrives. Do not delay urgent pain, fever or a recent exposure while waiting for a records office, and do not repeat an old medicine from memory. Ask which missing information could change the plan, who will review it when received and how duplicate or conflicting records will be reconciled. Keep one verified handover set for later care.

Common questions
Should I guess a medicine name to complete the history?
No. Record uncertainty and request the treatment record if possible.
Does an old normal panel settle a new exposure?
No. The clinician needs the actual tests, dates and new exposure history.
Must all care wait for missing records?
No. Urgent assessment and selected care may need to proceed while records are requested.
Sources and information limits
Sources support general medical principles, not the UAE booking policies or service availability. Confirm instructions and local arrangements with the care provider. The update date does not claim clinician review.

Questions before arranging an appointment?
Enquire about the next steps and availability. An enquiry does not confirm a booking or diagnosis and is not an emergency service.
